Combat basics
Understand light and charged attacks, bow shots, recovery, and dodging.
Light and charged melee attacks
With a melee weapon equipped, press left mouse or controller A to begin an attack. A short tap and release produces a light attack. Holding the same control charges the attack; release it to strike. A charge long enough to pass the heavy-attack threshold becomes a heavy attack.
Attacks have a startup, a period when the strike can hit, and a recovery. A press made during recovery can be buffered for the next attack, so repeated input does not mean every press produces an immediate strike.
Fight with a bow
Equip the Reed Bow. Primary attack fires a quick shot. Hold right mouse, R, or the right trigger, then release after drawing to fire a charged shot. Releasing before the minimum draw time does not fire. Esc or controller B cancels a bow draw.
Dodge and recover
Use Shift or controller B to dash. A dash can cancel melee recovery, but cannot start during the strike's startup or active hit period. Taking an accepted hit interrupts your outgoing attack or charge and briefly prevents a new action during hurt recovery.
Read your equipment and opponents
Item pages show configured attack, strength, and defence bonuses. Enemy pages show configured health, combat values, and drops. Treat these as development references: a listed definition is not a guarantee that the enemy or item is available in your current build.
