Opening lessons & the broken crossing
Meet the early tutors and understand the requirements for the old passage beneath the river.
Learn around the starting area
Ixam, the pond fisherman teaches First Cast at the northern pond. Catch a Pond Perch and return to him.
Iktan supplies a flint pickaxe for First Strike: mine a nearby Sun-Glass node and report back. Nima then offers Reading the Seam, asking for one mining action at the western cliff, central rocks, and eastern cliff before you return. Carrying or equipping a pickaxe can support mining; tool speed bonuses do not stack.
Yax teaches First Watch. In the clear training strip immediately south of him at the mining camp, perform an attack and a dodge. Aim into empty ground, let the movements finish, then return to him. The lesson checks the actions; it does not require killing a creature.
Tuun teaches the awakened Dawnkeeper's Lantern. For the separate introduction to spellcasting, seek Itzel and follow Learning magic.
Seek an older crossing
The collapsed rope bridge leads into Beneath the Broken Crossing. Complete the fishing, mining, combat, and lantern lessons, then ask Ixam, Nima, Yax, and Tuun about the old crossing. Completing a lesson and collecting that person's clue are separate steps.
With the awakened lantern, inspect the low cliff northeast of the mining camp, just north of the reed pond, where the clues lead. The first inspection reveals the stonework. A later interaction can clear it when the lessons and all four clues are recorded and you carry both the awakened lantern and a pickaxe.
Remain still while clearing the entrance. Opening it does not automatically send you underground: approach and interact again to enter. Follow the underground passage to the far exit across the river. Reaching the far-side arrival after opening the passage records the crossing.
Travel and keep your progress
Follow authored entrances and exits between the overworld and interiors. Map changes use a loading screen; wait for the destination before interacting again. Quest progress and the opened passage are save-backed, so save deliberately before ending a session.
These directions follow the current authored quest objectives and interaction rules. The complete walking route has not been replayed for this wiki refresh.
