Make a manual save

Open the pause menu with Esc or controller Back, choose Save Game, and confirm. There is no default quick-save key, so use the menu when you want to save deliberately.

Watch the game's save indicator. A failed save displays a failure status and asks you to retry from the menu. Do not treat closing the menu as proof that the save succeeded.

Use autosave

Autosave is enabled by default and can be switched on or off in Settings. In the current development configuration, the interval is 20 seconds while the autosave update is running. Blocking dialogue and menus can delay that update, so make a manual save before ending a session.

Return to the title

Return to Title saves the current map before returning. If that save fails, the game stays in the current world and reports the error.

What a save keeps

Your slot keeps your character's stats and skills, inventory and equipment, hotbar assignments, map and position, world time, and progression such as quests and opened chests. Each slot is stored separately on your computer.

The wiki stores reference pages and illustrations. It does not store or synchronize your game save.
